People who know how the news is made resist conspiratorial thinking

Conspiracy theories, like the world being flat or the Moon landings faked, have proven notoriously difficult to stomp out. Add a partisan twist to the issue, and the challenge becomes even harder. Even near the end of his second term, barely a quarter of Republicans were willing to state that President Obama was born in the US.

If we’re seeking to have an informed electorate, then this poses a bit of a problem. But a recent study suggests a very simple solution helps limit the appeal of conspiracy theories: news media literacy. This isn’t knowledge of the news, per se, but knowledge of the companies and processes that help create the news. While the study doesn’t identify how the two are connected, its authors suggest that an understanding of the media landscape helps foster a healthy skepticism.

FK – Well gee I have a ‘journalism degree’ and I’ve worked as a mainstream newswhore so I guess I can tell what ‘news literacy’ is or not huh?

I can tell you this column is blatant propaganda lumping in various ‘conspiracies’ in order to ‘disprove’ them all in the minds of the simple-minded.

If someone tells me they blindly trust any source I know I’m dealing with a child. Now I’m gonna go re-enforce my ignorance on Bigfoot and beef. Not. (And why does this spellchecker claim ‘Bigfoot’ has to be capitalized. That’s rather strange for a non-existent beast.)

And I know exactly how ‘news’ is made: Go along with editorial policy or get fired.

FK – There is very little ‘real’ reporting anymore. Most local rags are useless. They’re too afraid of pissing off advertisers besides the fact most of them are staffed by Marxists of one flavor or another. The first thing any reporter with a brain learns after journalism school is that most of the bastards they interview are lying to them about something, if only by omission. Claiming “I’m only reporting what is told to me,” is the newswhores’ oldest excuse.

Rape is one of the constants of war. Propaganda about it has been used by our own govt. and the Soviet Army used it as a tool of revenge on the German people as they invaded at the end of WWII.

It’s ‘all’ propaganda since propaganda is usually a mix of truth and lies and something in between whether it was written today in a tweet or 3000 years ago by the priests of nomadic tribesmen.

FK – When I was the age of Milo’s ‘audience’ this stuff wouldn’t have even been discussed in the public sphere, at least not around kids. Are we better or worse off or just as insane as ever but in a different way?

No, not his fame and fortune but his obvious perversion, confusion, pain, whatever that will likely here on out interfere with his ability to bridge the gap between an older generation of ‘conservatives'(loosely defined) and a younger generation of ‘libertarian/conservatives'(even more loosely defined) who’ve been indoctrinated in this ‘homosexuality is healthy and normal’ garbage vs. the older generation’s tendency to ignore it or treat it as a ‘sin’ for which it’s adherents fully deserve to be tortured alive in fire forever.

No wait, they deserve the torture simply because they were born as descendants of those who chose knowledge and independent thought over blind obedience.

They may not make the same mistake next year with your ‘press passes.’ Reminds me of a meeting I tried to tape several years back here in Kentucky. Because I was carrying a video camera ‘security’ wouldn’t let me in without a press pass or, I think, my socialist security number. It angered me so much that they tried to make a ‘press pass’ from the ‘official’ and ‘legitimate’ news media a requirement for my exercise of my First Amendment rights that I sat the meeting out.

Religion has always been a tool for the manipulation of populations. Most mainstream ‘Christians’ now believe basically three or four things: 1. We’re gonna get beamed up soon so we don’t have to do anything but; 2. We must pay our taxes and obey the government because the Bible commands it and; 3. “There ain’t nothin’ you can do about it cause it’s all been written down,” and; 4. It’s all in god’s plan and it’s his will so we shouldn’t or can’t fight back.

They send their kids to the govt. schools because they are forced to, and teach them on Sundays that none of this matters because they’re gonna get beamed up soon, yet tell them to get an ‘education’ so they can get good ‘jobs’ and buy all the stuff we think we have to have now, while slaving our days away for the workaholic assholes who own/run the corporations and who would trade us all for third world desperate peasants or robots if they could.

The synopsis of modern ‘Christianity,’ in fact for all its existence, has been “Be a good slave, you’ll have paradise in the next life.” I know, I was raised in that ‘thinking'(loosely defined).

I’ve heard this crap all my life and it disgusts me beyond my ability to describe. They want us to fear and obey them, The religions, which were either created for this purpose or were infiltrated and altered for this purpose, exist to serve this purpose.

Societies, cultures, nations, need a basic ‘morality’ and all, even the communistic ones, have one, or at least attempt to. Did the Roman empire survive for hundreds of years based on its monotheism? Hardly. Their republic was killed off after about 80  years, like ours, then they continued under a series of dictators.

Now we are allowed to ‘vote’ for our dictators which are appointed by our elites behind the scenes. The average dumbass goes to vote every four years for a ‘savior’ that’s telling them the same lies the last one did, and promising to wave a magic wand and solve all their perceived problems, and they go along with this for decades without catching on. How pathetic.
