New and Improved Suppressor Legislation in Congress!
As you know, Gun Owners of America strongly opposes all types of gun control — including the National Firearms Act and the NICS background check system.
And now there’s a bill that will deal a major blow to both of those ugly marks on the Second Amendment.
Senators Mike Lee and Mike Crapo, along with Representative Steve King introduced the “Silencers Helping Us Save Hearing Act” or SHUSH Act in both Senate and House (S. 1505 and H.R. 3139).
But you may be thinking: Isn’t there already a suppressor bill in Congress? Yes, there is. It’s the Hearing Protection Act which was has been introduced back in January.

GOA Alert: Obama’s First Gun-Related Action Under Loretta Lynch
The revelation of this “Unified Agenda” prompted a Fox News discussion last week, where GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt debated an anti-gun (Bloomberg) spokesman. You can view that debate here.
Sadly, this is one of those “we told them so” moments, where gun owners nationwide warned Republican Senators that a Department of Justice run by Loretta Lynch would be no more favorable to us than it had been under Eric Holder.
For nearly a month, gun owners like you fought to prevent the confirmation of Lynch to be Attorney General of the United States.
But despite withering pressure from the grassroots, Senators like Orrin Hatch of Utah and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky thought they knew better than the “fools” who elected them.

ACTION: Contact your Senators to rebuke those who supported Lynch and to thank those who opposed her. Urge them to use the congressional “power of the purse” to remove the funding for every single one of Lynch’s new, anti-gun regulations.

ATF cries “uncle” after getting hammered from the public
The agency is now crying “uncle,” in the face of thousands upon thousands of negative comments from gun owners all around the country — including more than 200 congressmen.
The agency said today:
Although ATF endeavored to create a proposal that reflected a good faith interpretation of the law and balanced the interests of law enforcement, industry, and sportsmen, the vast majority of the comments received to date are critical of the framework, and include issues that deserve further study.
A “good faith interpretation”? Well, that’s laughable. But realize the agency says the issue deserves “further study.”
So now the question becomes: Is this a genuine retreat, or just a “tactical retreat,” as we saw with Operation Choke Point? In that case, the federal government removed gun dealers from its “risky business list,” but continue to persecute them under that program on a case-by-case basis.
And, finally, what about the ban on Russian-made 7N6 ammo, which is not reversed by ATF’s reversal?
Our answer to both of these questions is that we need to keep up the pressure — and not trust ATF’s purported “change of heart.”
GOA will keep watching the ATF and alert you to any future attempts to slip a ban by the American people.
