The survey is the first measure of concealed carry permits since 2011, when the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that eight million Americans had such permits. And as noted by the Crime Prevention Research Center, though the survey found that 11,113,013 Americans currently hold concealed carry permits, the number is likely much higher because not all states that issue permits have those figures available.

The figures reveal that Florida has the highest number of concealed carry permits, at 1.3 million, with Texas a close second, at 708,000. Of the states, Hawaii has the lowest, with just 183.

A number of factors contributed to the rise in concealed carry permits, including new state laws. In March, Illinois became the 50th state to begin issuing concealed weapons permits.

FK- Allow me to finish the last sentence of this article: This is precisely why the Founding Fathers included the Second Amendment in the U.S. Constitution, preventing the federal government from infringing on the people’s natural right to defend themselves against tyrants in government and their goons on the street be they in uniform or not.

New Jersey Governor and potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie has been drawing intense criticism from the forcible citizen disarmament lobby (and their mass media lapdogs) for the past week, over his veto of a New Jersey bill lowering the magazine capacity limit from 15 rounds to 10. That limit would, of course, only have applied to private citizens, and not law enforcement or other government hired muscle.

That veto has also brought Christie some praise from gun rights advocates, such as the Tea Party Network News:

Earlier today, the “Harry Reid Preservation Act,” S. 2363, went down to defeat, as pro-gun Senators successfully filibustered the bill by a vote of 56-41.

In a last minute letter to Capitol Hill today, Gun Owners of America told Senators that a vote to end the filibuster “will be viewed as a vote AGAINST veterans … AGAINST concealed carry reciprocity … and AGAINST preserving the gun industry.”

GOA also warned Senators that a vote in favor of S. 2363 would be scored in our end-of-year rating.

FK – Too bad enough can’t wake up to the necessity of vanquishing the American Communist Insurgency once and for all.

Unaddressed in the report, addressed to Charles E. Grassley, Ranking Member Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, and F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr., Chairman Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations Committee on the Judiciary, House of Representatives, are concerns expressed by gun owners about ATF powers, by Federal Firearms Licensees about inspection inconsistencies and application of rules and revocations, by firearm developers about arbitrary and often contradictory rulings, and by whistleblowers and disaffected agents about agency waste, abuse and corruption.
