As odd as it may seem that a hulking armored personnel carrier could go missing from a police department, it’s not that uncommon an occurrence. 

In fact, at least three other police stations have misplaced or been robbed of their government-issued Humvees in the past five years. Weapons turn up missing, too. Yahoo News found that local police departments like Palestine’s have been suspended from the Pentagon 1033 program for misplacing at least 14 M16 assault rifles, 11 M14 assault rifles, 21 pistols and 10 shotguns. These figures don’t come close to representing the total number of weapons that have been stolen or lost over the life of the program, however — a figure the Defense Department has not released.

Yahoo News contacted the 35 states with police departments that have been suspended by the Pentagon over the past five years. Just 18 of the states responded with what equipment, if any, was missing in those law enforcement agencies that caused the suspensions.

The Defense Department won’t release a full list of missing equipment nationwide, so it’s impossible to know the full scope of the problem. It relies on state coordinators to ensure departments aren’t misusing or misplacing things, according to Defense Department spokesman Mark Wright.

“We’ve got some people … that run this program, but there’s no way we can keep track of 8,000 different agencies,” Wright said.

In his USA Today column, Jonah Goldberg exposes a national disgrace I was completely unaware of, one that is almost too heartbreaking to comprehend: the United State military sometimes reclassifies combat dogs as “equipment” and abandons them to languish in shelters overseas in war zones.

Other than the fact that combat dogs save an average of 150 American lives during their service, these living creatures form strong emotional attachments to the men assigned to them. But when their time is up — when they become too old, combat fatigued or shall-shocked to be useful in combat — rather than transport them home for adoption, they are sometimes heartlessly abandoned.

Despite Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America’s ongoing push to shame businesses into banning guns in their stores, 57,000 businesses have posted “guns welcome” or similar signs on their front doors.

Moms Demand has persuaded just five businesses — Target, Chipotle, Jack in the Box, Chili’s, and Sonic — to ask customers to leave their guns at home. They were also able to pressure a sixth business, Starbucks, into asking open carry practitioners not to be so flamboyant about visibly carrying guns in their stores.

That’s a total of six businesses, which is 56,994 less than the current total of those who are embracing guns in their bars, restaurants and other businesses.

On July 31, the Army officially announced that a new camouflage pattern, known internally as Scorpion W2, will be named the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP). Not only will this new pattern replace MultiCam, which currently acts as the OCP, but also it will replace Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) as the official ACU pattern.

The original Scorpion pattern was developed by Crye Precision as part of the Objective Force Warrior program more than a decade ago. The Scorpion W2 variant was modified from the initial pattern by Army Natick Labs. Similar in design to MultiCam, the chosen pattern could be used in the field by the summer of 2015.

After a four-year intensive camouflage research and testing process, this selection couldn’t have been more anticipated. For more than a decade, the Army has relied on the widely unpopular UCP as the official standard-issue pattern.

The old woodland cammo was fine for temperate and tropical climates but too green and dark for winter in the Eastern Woodlands. The Military really only needs 4 patterns: summer woodland, winter woodland, desert and snow. Multicam works much better as an all around but it’s still a little too green for winter for my taste.

Speaking in Sacramento on his second day in California, Peña Nieto said that California has allowed Mexican migrants to have a chance to prosper, and he hoped California is sending “a clear message to the United States and the rest of the world” about the importance of diversity and embracing “migrants.” He also, as he did on Monday in Los Angeles, said Mexico supports “migration reform”–or comprehensive amnesty legislation–because it is just for illegal immigrants, especially those from Mexico.

On Monday, Peña Nieto called for “justice” for illegal immigrants, scolded governors who did not believe in more open borders, and said America was “the other Mexico.”

Brown said that all illegal immigrants from Mexico “are welcome in California.” As Breitbart News has noted, though Peña Nieto thanked California for all it has done for Mexicans, especially migrants, the Latino Caucus wants even more. For instance, even though the University of California has accepted a record number of Hispanics, the Latino Caucus had said bilingual education and bringing back formal affirmative action policies will be top legislative priorities going forward.
