Maier points out that the World Economic Forum may also have been deterred by the world’s largest concentration of earth and atmospheric scientists and professional engineers in Alberta – with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geosciences of Alberta (APEGA) membership numbering some 70,000+. A recent survey in Organizational Studies reported on by Forbes peer-reviewed study Feb. 13, 2013 finds some 56% of APEGA scientists strongly disagree with the dangerous Anthropogenic Global Warming theory expounded by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The survey entitled “Science or Science Fiction? Professionals’ Discursive Construction of Climate Change” by Lefsrud and Meyer reports most respondents felt climate change was a natural process and human impact posed a minimal risk to the public and little or no personal risk. [The survey discounted 7.9% participants as ‘disguised’ and only 36% as “Comply with Kyoto”].

Thankfully, because of the united pro-gun opposition to Murthy, ten Democrats are now considering voting against this Surgeon General nomination.  Since the only Republican defection thus far is Mark Kirk of Illinois, this would be enough to defeat Murthy, even with the illegal nomination-related rules changes Democrat Leader Harry Reid enacted last November.

Interestingly, according to Saturday’s New York Times, one of the options considered by the White House would be to delay the nomination until January, when, it hopes, newly reelected “red state” Democrats like Mark Begich (D-AK), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Mark Pryor (D-AR), John Walsh (D-MT), Mark Udall (D-CO), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and Mark Warner (D-VA) would be once again free to vote anti-gun.

We are working with litigators to try to challenge states such as these in court — in the face of a judiciary which is increasingly packed by Obama with anti-gun judges.

But one thing we can do to force states like New York and Connecticut to recognize the Constitution is to pass reciprocity legislation like H.R. 578, which has been introduced by Congressman Marlin Stutzman in the House and currently has 38 cosponsors.

This comes as something of a surprise. This column reported in early February that with the Senate’s Democrat majority having invoked the “nuclear option” with regard to Presidential appointments, Murthy seemed poised for a fairly easy confirmation process. Indeed, several news sources at the time described Murthy as having “breezed through” the confirmation hearing before a Senate committee.

So what has changed since then?

The NRA has announced that it will “score” the vote on Murthy’s confirmation, meaning that those who vote to confirm him will be judged (in a critical light) on that vote when it comes time for supporting and endorsing candidates–and opposing them. This is especially important for “pro-gun Democrats” running in districts where gun rights are still valued.

FK – Uh, what about this? GOA has often stepped in when the ‘No Rights that aren’t Allowed’ group sat back and ignored real attacks on our Liberty. That’s what it’s about, Human Liberty, not just guns, which unfortunately for many are just toys that they’ll readily surrender when told instead of marching forth from their homes and commencing the extended and thorough “Liberal”(commie) trash season this country so desperately needs.

The change would end the long-running contract between the Commerce Department and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a California-based nonprofit group. That contract is set to expire next year but could be extended if the transition plan is not complete.

Now consider that there are at least 10 trillion planetary systems in the known universe.  Notice the “at least”.  That is 10,000,000,000,000.  Earth would be “1″ of those.  The idea that there is no life on any of those other 9,999,999,999,999 planets is absurd.  Let alone that there has been no life in the past and there will be no life in the future!
