Police using military gear in riots could be forced to repay millions in grants

Paul said he was horrified by the “thoroughly un-American” policing tactics seen in Ferguson and demanded an immediate end to a similar Pentagon program, called 1033, that has provided 12,000 bayonets, 5,200 humvees and 617 mine-resistant armoured vehicles (MRAPs) to civilian forces across the US.

Senator Claire McCaskill, a Missouri Democrat, said committee investigators had found there were now more MRAPs in the hands of local police forces than the national guard and that 36% of all surplus equipment received direct from the military was brand new or unused.

“What in the world are we doing buying stuff that is not used,” asked McCaskill. “I want to make sure we are clear about how out of control this is.”

A list of smaller police departments receiving MRAPs under the 1033 programme disclosed by committee staff claimed one Oklahoma county sheriff’s department with just one full-time sworn officer had received two of the 18-tonne vehicles alone.

FK – They need an extra one to haul around the beer and donuts. Find out where they keep it and who has the keys.

Paul is doing more good in the Senate than he probably could in the now red house.

Obama Invents “Immigration Rights” in Milwaukee Labor Speech

During an address to labor union leaders and supporters at Milwaukee’s Laborfest on September 1, President Obama added another category to the long list of special interests that demand their own rights — “immigration rights.”

Obama told the assembled labor faithful:

Cynicism is a bad choice.  Hope is the better choice. Hope is what gives us courage. Hope is what gave soldiers courage to storm a beach. Hope is what gives young people the strength to march for women’s rights, and worker’s rights, and civil rights, and voting rights, and gay rights, and immigration rights. [Emphasis added.]

FK – Are we surprised at anything this NWO commie does or says? I’m still hoping for that supreme arrogance that will get millions off their asses and on the road to the district of commie criminals with something more than a damn sign:

Why Congress Won’t Help Jennifer Lawrence

Revenge porn, the illegal posting of sexually explicit photos of former romantic partners, is something that’s not a problem just for female celebrities, it’s a problem for women everywhere. The practice has become so common in the Internet age that there are whole websites and online forums dedicated to it, as well as to its eradication. It’s a practice that thrives on the hatred and subjugation of women (because naked pictures of men just don’t get commonly leaked) and in most states around the country, there is little legal recourse for its victims.

FK – Oh good grief. Men don’t look at naked women because they hate them and want to subjugate them, unless you’re a feminazi idiot and think all contact with males is subjugation. They do it because it’s in their brains and their genes, or the jeans, as the case may be.

The states where Americans are the most and least obese

The South is weighing this country down.

Nowhere in the United States are Americans more overweight than in Mississippi and West Virginia, where more than 35 percent of the adult population is now obese, according to a new report from the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The two Southern states, however, are hardly alone in their alarmingly high obesity rates — another 18 U.S. states, including just about all of the U.S. South, have obesity rates at or above 30 percent.

The exceptions are few and far in between. Only seven U.S. states and one district — Vermont, Montana, Utah, California, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Colorado and the District of Columbia — registered obesity rates below 25 percent. And only Colorado, the least obese state in the country, and Hawaii, the second least, registered obesity rates below 22 percent.

FK – Of course they have to pick on southerners but they deserve it. Kentucky is hanging in there with ’em. I see a lot more fat people than years ago. It especially breaks my heard to see a fat kid with fat parents. What an example. I’ve fought it all my life with a slow metabolism and an early addiction to sugar and still powerful craving for ice cream in the slightest warm weather but at least I get off my ass and try to do get some real exercise. Do you?

Oh, and West Virginia isn’t ‘the south.’ They broke off from Virginia and sided with the Yankees. But that’ll only be mentioned in the appropriate propaganda piece.

Jack the Ripper unmasked: How amateur sleuth used DNA breakthrough to identify Britain’s most notorious criminal 126 years after string of terrible murders

It is the greatest murder mystery of all time, a puzzle that has perplexed criminologists for more than a century and spawned books, films and myriad theories ranging from the plausible to the utterly bizarre.

But now, thanks to modern forensic science, The Mail on Sunday can exclusively reveal the true identity of Jack the Ripper, the serial killer responsible for  at least five grisly murders in Whitechapel in East London during the autumn of 1888.

DNA evidence has now  shown beyond reasonable doubt which one of six key suspects commonly cited in connection with the Ripper’s reign of terror was the actual killer – and we reveal his identity.

A shawl found by the body of Catherine Eddowes, one of the Ripper’s victims, has been analysed and found to contain DNA from her blood as well as DNA from the killer.

FK – I’m posting this because I’ve heard of this case all my life though I’ve never looked into it all that deeply. But think about it, they had several suspects and managed to not falsely imprison or execute any of them. Our modern ‘in-just-us’ system can’t always claim to do so well. See post farther down.

FK – Another thing we take for granted in this country. I had some relatives undergo the rabies shots years ago when it was a painful weeks-long process because a farm cat got it. We had a cow get what the vet called ‘dumb rabies‘ but all she did was walk in circles, slobbering. She would try to drink but couldn’t.

Rand Paul: Changing Feathers, Now Flying With the Hawks?

The war birds of the Grand Old Party are flying back to their hawks’ nests after a brief interlude from crying havoc to a war-weary public.

The crimes and atrocities committed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have prompted “a sudden shift in Republican politics, putting a halt to the anti-interventionist mood that had been gaining credence in the party,” the U.S. Armed Forces publication Stars and Stripes noted Thursday, citing a discernible “thirst among many conservative activists for a more muscular U.S. foreign policy.” At a meeting of the Koch Brothers-backed Americans for Prosperity over the past weekend, the paper noted, the loudest applause came when Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called for bombing the Islamic State “back to the Stone Age.” It’s hard to see how that would deter the rampaging jihadists. They like the Stone Age.

Even Rand Paul, who like Cruz is a likely presidential aspirant for 2016, is now singing from the hawkish hymnal about a U.S. military solution to the chaos in Iraq, a significant shift for the Kentucky senator who has built a reputation as a leading opponent of intervening in conflicts abroad. “If I were president, I would call a joint session of Congress. I would lay out the reasoning of why ISIS is a threat to our national security and seek congressional authorization to destroy ISIS militarily,” Paul said in a statement released from his office.

FK – Maybe the ‘unmentionables‘ are now telling him what to do.

That last link is a ‘must read.’ In a free country there’s no such thing as a group whose motives can’t be questioned. When you have that, you have a serious problem and an indication of who thinks they own you. As long as this condition persists we are not free here and will not be.
