The HuffPo piece, by Peter Dreier, an E.P. Clapp Distinguished professor of politics at Occidental College, is a defense of ultra-liberal New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, who is in trouble with rank-and-file cops. The other opinion, in the Dec. 26 Washington Post, is by Kimberly Yonkers, MD, a professor at the Yale School of Medicine. Her effort is to shift the focus from mental health – despite a pattern of high-profile shooters who have had histories of mental problems – onto guns.
Dreier writes that Patrick Lynch, president of New York’s Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, “should focus on the NRA, not de Blasio.” He blames the NRA for opposing so-called “reasonable laws” that might have prevented gunman Ismaaiyl Brinsley from getting his hands on the 9mm Taurus pistol he used to murder the two officers. He complains about efforts to protect the right of American citizens to legally carry defensive sidearms in such places as “bars, churches, schools, universities, and elsewhere.”

If Dreier and Yonkers were correct in their finger-pointing, Seattle would be awash in blood, as would every corner of the Evergreen State. That is not the case.
Second Amendment activists have always agreed that some people simply shouldn’t have guns. But they will also argue that the solution is not to disarm law-abiding citizens by way of increasingly restrictive regulations, thus turning the Second Amendment into a government privilege.

Those who have been convicted of violent felonies and who are still in prison shouldn’t have weapons.
If someone has been judged by a jury or a doctor to be dangerous to society, such as many politicians and “Liberal”(commie) trash types, they shouldn’t be ‘allowed’ access to weapons, but the only way to do that is to lock them up.
Why are we turning inmates out who can’t be trusted with weapons? So the govt. and the “Liberal”(commie) trash can lie and say “See, people can’t be trusted with guns.”
It’s way past time to repeal ‘all’ gun laws for even if ‘gun control’ could be proven to reduce crime it would still be evil because the Second Amendment isn’t about common crime, it’s about govt. crime and what will ultimately have to be done about it as history shows over and over again.
Here’s what the Second Amendment actually means regardless of how much our blood domestic enemies with white skin, the “Liberal”(commie) trash and other assorted authoritarians lie about it:
The right of the people to overthrow or prevent tyrannical or authoritarian government by force of individually owned arms, purchased or manufactured without government permission or taxes levied or paid, inferior to, equal to or superior to those commonly carried by soldiers, marines, sailors or militia members of any fighting force in the world shall not be brought into question. The right of the people to protect themselves from criminals in government, or any institution that may seek authority over them or from any common street criminal shall not be brought into question. Those elected, hired or appointed public servants who do question this proclamation and/or the people’s natural, most basic right, that all our other rights are based upon, that of self defense, shall be arrested, tried for treason and executed.
There’s no such thing as a good ‘gun law.’ All gun control is propaganda designed to condition the sheeple to accept more control with total civilian disarmament being the final objective thus all gun control is an act of war. All who forward it should be arrested, tried for treason against human Liberty and executed.
