Unfolding debate: Do rifle-toting activists help or hurt 2A effort?

In the wake of Friday’s announcement that the Washington State Senate will no longer allow open carry of firearms in its gallery, a debate has erupted in the firearms community as to whether long gun open carry demonstrations advance or hurt the Second Amendment cause.

As one might guess, there are sharp opinions on both sides. However, this is not a discussion limited solely to the Evergreen State. This past week, a similar furor has erupted in Texas, as open carry activists reportedly confronted some state lawmakers in Austin. After that incident, the Texas House approved the installation of “panic buttons” in legislative offices.

One popular blogger, Bob Owens at Bearing Arms.com, verbally unloaded on one Texas group and their leader this week, calling them “knuckleheads.” Readers responding to the Seattle Times report yesterday are also engaging in some name-calling, intimating that a group of about 15-18 people who gathered on the Capitol steps in Olympia Thursday, before walking inside and entering the House gallery to pose with their rifles, may not be terribly bright.

There are some ironies here. The armed group entered the House gallery, but it was the Senate that yesterday banned openly carried firearms in its chamber. Concealed handguns will evidently still be allowed, but visible firearms are now being treated like other props of protest, such as signs or banners. There has long been a ban on protesting inside the legislative chambers.

That’s what this is about. That’s all this is about. Our elected public SERVANTS are supposed to fear us. They’re supposed to go to work every day wondering if something they might do might cause crowds of armed men to descend upon them and render the justice they so rightly deserve. It’s a miracle and actually a failing that we haven’t already, on every state legislature and especially on the district of commie criminals.

It’s way past time to be ready for what will be required.

Take Back Kentucky Capitol Tour & Training

In the past TBK has offered a Capitol Tour and Training, since it has been a few years since we did this we though we would offer it again. Basically what this is for is to help those that are new or may not feel comfortable going to the Capitol on their own yet a way to do it with others and get familiar with the place and process so in hopes that we can have more citizen activists involved in the legislative process. There will be seasoned legislative grassroots activists there to help guide you as well as people who are at the Capitol everyday to help explain the process.  The agenda is set to start early so please plan accordingly, this is the best way we could make the schedule work, besides, if you are going to go to the Capitol on a normal day to get anything done you probably need to get there early anyway.   • Thursday Feb 5th 8:00 Capitol Annex Room # 113
    • Robert Jenkins from the LRC to explain what the LRC does and the process of the bill.
    • Bro. Lee Watts to explain his ministry to the legislature.
    • Sen. John Schickel from Boone County to explain the legislator perspective.
  • 9:30  Capitol Tour – Meet at the Rotunda entrance (you can get there through the annex tunnel)
  • 10:30 – 2:00 Committees and Meetings – Use this time to attend Committees or if you want to meet with your legislator be sure to set up a time during this period. You may also get lunch at some point during this time, there is a cafeteria in the basement. Call 1-800-372-7181 and ask to be directed to your legislator to set up a meeting.
  • 2:00 Session Starts – We will get tickets for the House and Senate Chambers for you to observe the legislative process. This usually starts at 2PM everyday but it could be sooner or later.

In the U.S., the strong desire to protect gun rights, and the belief that our borders must be strongly secured, are both issues almost universally considered to be associated with a “conservative” viewpoint. Conversely, “gun control,” and the push for a far more open border, and much looser immigration policies are seen to be issues dear to those who call themselves “progressive” (“progressing” toward what, one might ask). As National Gun Rights Examiner, David Codrea has frequently illustrated, the connection makes some sense, because the highly permeable border and loose immigration policy do much to strengthen the political position of “gun control” zealots.

With the “Charlie Hebdo” massacre by radical Islamic extremists in France, and the subsequent attack on a kosher supermarket just days later, leaving between them 17 innocent people dead, attitudes may be changing. The powerful weapons (many not legally available to private citizens in the U.S.) were obtained by the terrorists without much difficulty, France’s restrictive gun laws notwithstanding. Apparently bought from an underground arms dealer in Belgium, these fully-automatic rifles and pistols, rocket and grenade launchers, and their explosive munitions are not difficult to find in Europe, we are now told, with many coming from large stockpiles in Albania and in what was once Yugoslavia.

But the interesting aspect about this is how these weapons in eastern Europe so easily move to western Europe, and once there, circulate freely among European Union nations.

FK – And it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if certain ‘progressive’ groups in this country already have them… What were they doing and advocating back in the 60s and 70s that some of them still have no apologies for?

— Second Amendment Could be Impacted

Congress got back to work last week.  And within the next month, the congressional GOP leadership is expected to move a “bait and switch” scheme that could seriously impact the Second Amendment.

The scheme is called “fast track.”

In “fast track,” Congress passes a bill which delegates to Barack Obama the legislative authority to do anything he wants — ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING — so long as he includes it in a “trade agreement.”

In this case, the trade agreement is the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP or TPA) — currently being negotiated with thirteen Pacific Rim nations.

The problem is that Congress would delegate this authority to Obama without knowing what was in the top secret agreement — and possibly before it is even completely written.

FK – I told the bastards they shouldn’t be surprised if someday soon they look out their windows up there and see crowds approaching, not with signs in their hands but with tools to do what will be required.

Why aren’t we killing them? Can someone tell me?
