Cuomo and his anti-gun allies in Albany exploited the horrors of the Sandy Hook School disaster to ram through the NY SAFE—a gun control “kitchen sink” bill that was jammed full of absurd, inaccurate, often unenforceable provisions—and has been fighting a defensive battle ever since. Many upstate law enforcement officers have publicly stated their refusal to enforce the draconian law, and many gun owners reacted by refusing to comply with “assault weapon” registration requirements.

The vast majority of gun owners felt that this registration attempt was a possible prelude to a future confiscation effort. Non-compliance is thought to be stunningly high, something in excess of the estimated 90-percent non-compliance rate for registration in neighboring Connecticut. These are truly “just paper” laws which the citizenry has brazenly ignored, and which the state law enforcement agencies in both states dare not attempt to aggressively enforce for legitimate fears that they could trigger a violent insurrection.

Baltimore corrections officers charged with looting convenience store during unrest

Two Baltimore correctional officers were charged Wednesday with looting a downtown convenience store during unrest last month over the death of Freddie Gray, officials said.

Tamika Cobb and Kendra Richard were caught on video taking merchandise from the 7-Eleven on the corner of W. Baltimore and Howard streets on April 25, the state Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services said.

FK – Apparently ‘unrest’ is a new PC word for rioting and looting.

Elaine Willman, author of Going to Pieces: The Dismantling of the United States of America, has studied the complex issues surrounding tribal governance and independence, and she had a stark warning. “The radical Hawaiian human rights group concerns itself with the rights of only certain humans, so I find such organizations to be oxymorons,” Willman, who is of Cherokee Indian ancestry, told The New American. She also suggested that natives and federally funded tribal governments were being exploited for sinister purposes by the Obama administration and other forces. “The national multi-headed Hydra that I see assaulting America is being fomented by the present federal executive Branch,” she said, citing federal takeovers of key economic sectors, the exploitation of tribal governments to reduce state authority and jurisdiction, and the ongoing efforts to divide-and-conquer the American people along every conceivable fault line to advance a totalitarian agenda.

“Radical race-oriented voices in Hawaii, just like the ‘thugs’ in Missouri, Maryland and Florida, will find support as ‘victims’ when the mob violence begins, and Hawaiian law enforcement will find no respect or help at the federal level,” she added. “We are a deeply wounded country today, so it’s no wonder that ISIS, China, Russia and other potential adversaries are licking their chops to come in and capture the booty in our once great land of opportunity.” She also suggested pro-gambling forces hoping to cash in on tribal casinos may be at work in Hawaii, too.

The report says that the increase of participants from 17 million in 2000 to nearly 47 million recipients in 2014 is one reason why the application process should be made easier and less costly, but others have argued that more relaxed entry requirements into the program are the very reason it has expanded so much.

McConnell Struggling Against Tide in Support of Patriot Act

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants to reauthorize surveillance powers under the Patriot Act, but hopes are dimming after the House overwhelmingly voted this week to end the National Security Agency’s (NSA’s) bulk data collection program.

According to The Hill, McConnell is in a tight spot as he tries to pursue a renewal of the Patriot Act by the June 1 deadline. He already filed legislation to try to push back the deadline by two months to buy more time.

“He’s really in a box,” Connecticut Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Wednesday before the House vote, according to The Hill. “With all due respect, he’s in a box that the courts have made for him, so to speak, by correctly interpreting the law,” he said, referring to a ruling by a federal court recently that the program is illegal.

In voting for the USA Freedom Act, the House will force the agency to obtain a narrower set of records from private phone companies, a move that McConnell has said would land the NSA with “an untested, untried, and more cumbersome system.”

McConnell is committed to passing a “clean” reauthorization bill that would extend part of the Patriot Act for 5 1/2 years.
